Title: Dilution

Date: 2020

Originating from a port city in southern China, with water and salt as key elements of my identity, this performance is based on a reversed process of salt farming, as the artist’s identity dilutes into a broader body of water through relocation overseas. From the red marker in the centre, the pile of salt is gradually dispersed, forming fluid traces of identity, and ending in differing concentrations across many endpoints. Therefore, my fluid identity does not necessarily belong to any specific place or category but differs in a higher or lower concentration.
